Tabaruka Jeannine and Unnultoza Christine discuss the reason that Unnultoza Christine grew up without her father and brother. Unnultoza Christine has several questions surrounding their deaths during the genocide. Tabaruka Jeannine does her best to answer these questions so that her daughter may understand her family's history, but more importantly so she can move past the harsh realities of Rwanda's past and begin planning her future. Tabaruka Jeannine relates her past to help Unnultoza Christine realize that she is not alone in her struggles and that they are surmountable. With the support of her remaining parent and others, Unnultoza Christine can educate herself, learn to love all her peers, and lead a good life.
"The advice I would give in general, when I look back at the past and today, I would suggest that everyone have a goal within themselves to love one another. There needs to be harmony between individuals....She should not live in the past but instead in the future so that she can help those who are behind and all her friends." Tabaruka Jeannine
"I want to know how my brother died and where they [my family] lived." Unnultoza Christine
